Calafou es parte del patrimonio histórico desarrollado a orillas del Rio Anoia.

Originalmente en este lugar hubo un molino de harina, una actividad productiva común a lo largo del río y de la cual se tiene constancia desde la edad media. Luego se convirtió en un [https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat%C3%A1n batán](molin draper) conocido como molino de Castellet y documentado desde el año 1513 hasta 1740 que una riada lo destruyó. En 1794 fue reconstruido como molino papelero que funcionó hasta el 1890 aproximadamente. Aún hoy se conserva el edificio principal de aquella época y la piedra donde estaba la antigua prensa del papel.

Desde finales del siglo XIX hasta mediados de SXX fue una colonia textil, conocida como Colonia Marçal. Las colonias industriales de Cataluña se implantaron a partir de mediados del siglo XIX y uno de sus objetivos era dividir el movimiento trabajador y llevarlo a vivir en los lugares donde trabajaban. Eran la suma de "la fábrica y las viviendas de todos aquellos que trabajaban en ellas, desde el director hasta el último aprendiz. En ellas se podía encontrar desde una iglesia, un economato, escuelas, lavaderos hasta locales sociales, teatros, oficinas bancarias, etc. En la segunda mitad del siglo XIX se levantaron 72 colonias industriales en torno a los grandes ríos de Cataluña, en especial el Ter y el Llobregat y de sus respectivos afluentes -Calders, Anoia, Fresser y Brugent. Constituyen el elemento más característico de su industrialización. Las colonias industriales buscaban ubicaciones cerca de un río para aprovechar la energía hidráulica necesaria para mover los telares en unos terrenos baratos" [1]. La Colonia Marçal, fue construida en 1890 por Joan Viver y Dolors Marçal, quienes proyectaron la fábrica textil y su propia residencia [2] Ca l'Afou junto al molino papelero. Durante la primera mitad del siglo XX fue la única colonia industrial de toda la comarca de la Anoia.

Alrededor de los 60, sus moradores la abandonaron, pero su actividad industrial se mantuvo, con varias empresas que ocupaban las naves y hacían un uso hidroeléctrico de la antigua turbina. A partir de los años 70 la colonia se dedicó a estampados y confecciones con el nombre de "Contrisa". En 2004 un incendio quemó una fábrica de pinturas y se aceleró su abandono.

En 2011 se firmo un contrato de alquiler con derecho a compra a través de una cooperativa de viviendas. Desde entonces las habitantes y visitantes de calafou están transformando este valle en una infraestructura para los comunes, un espacio desde la sociedad civil para la sociedad civil, sumando una cooperativa de vivienda social, proyectos productivos colectivos y autónomos varios así como laboratorios, residencias y eventos.

Calafou es una antigua colonia industrial textil de 28.000 metros cuadrados, conocida como la colonia Marçal, fundada en el municipio de Cabrera d'Anoia, sobre el río Anoia .

Calafou es parte del patrimonio histórico desarrollado a orillas del Rio Anoia.
