Can you tell me how the Calafou community was born ? How is life there ?Please tell me about the members of Gynepunk. Who are you, how many are you ? What specific issues made you feel the need to create this collective ?
I'd like to know a little bit about you. How old are you ? Where did you grow up, what’s your background ? What did you do before co-creating the Calafou community and Gynepunk ?
I know about 3 projects you started, but I don’t know a lot about them. - the first aid gynecology kit for women who don’t have access to traditional medicine or want to do their own auto-examination. What’s in the kit ? How did you make it ? Do you use it yourself ? Do you give it out to women in need ?
- the 3D printable speculum that you created. I think it’s a freakin brillant idea !! I love the whole idea of making gynecology accessible to anyone who needs it, and to free it from doctors’ monopoly. Is it downloadable from anyone ? Do you know if a lot of people printed it for their own use ? Not everyone has access to a 3D printer. How do you suggest people do it ? Is there something else you would like to tell to me about that brilliant idea of yours ?
- and of course, « Anarcha, Betsey, Lucy y otras chicas del montón ». Can you tell me a bit about that project, and the history of it ? I know that you named the Skene and Bartholin glands the « Anarcha gland » and the « Lucy and Betsy gland ». Are there other glands or parts of the anatomy that you named after black women that « gave » their lives to gynecological discoveries ? Is the project still going on ?
I’m guessing that GynePunk gets a lot of support from other hacktivists and the feminist community in general. Do you ever get negative feedback ? How do local doctors and gynecologists react to what you do ?
If anyone from Gynepunk wants to add something to that interview I would be happy to collect their words smile emoticon
Also, if you have a picture of you (and maybe the 3D printed speculum and first aid kit) we can use to illustrate the piece, it would be awesome.
